“Game of Thrones” star Emilia Clarke And “Divergent” star Shailene Woodley must be on separate screens but their portrayals of characters is strong and confident. While, Emilia Clarke is popular for her role of Daenerys Targaryen, Shailene Woodley is known for her portrayal of Tris in “Divergent” movie series.
Emilia Clarke and Shailene Woodley have one thing in common, and that is turning down role of Anastasia Steel [Dakota Johnson] from “Fifty Shades” movie series. While, their reasons were different, both Clarke and Woodley have no regrets that “Fifty Shades” franchise has turned out to be such a huge blockbuster.
In her interview with The Hollywood Reporter, “Game of Thrones” star Clarke revealed that she would have loved to work with “Fifty Shades of Grey” director Sam Taylor-Johnson but she was not alright with extreme nudity. Aparently, Clarke was afraid that she will be associated with it and will get ‘nude’ roles only.
Clarke said, “I’d done nudity before and was concerned with being labelled for doing it again.” Clarke recalled her “Game of Thrones” audition and said, “I was like, ‘Wow, I’ve arrived. This is a ‘serious’ audition. Never in a million years did I think “Game of Thrones” was going to take off like it did.”
“Divergent” star Shailene Woodley also had her doubts about “Fifty Shades” franchise. In one of her interviews with Glamour UK via Teen.com, Woodley even expressed doubts over the whole idea of converting “Fifty Shades” novel into movie scripts. Woodley said, “I’d read the book and thought, “If somebody really can pull this off and make a movie out of it, they will be the biggest genius!”
Later, Woodley subtly told The Daily Beast via Gossip Cop, “It actually is true. I didn’t want to audition for it. It’s because I had already done “Divergent” and I knew there was no way I wanted to do multiple franchises at the same time because that’s crazy, so I didn’t see the point in it.”
