It is time for Asians to steal the spotlight in the new season of “Asia’s Next Top Model” (AsNTM) Cycle 3. Filipino-British model and TV personality Georgina Wilson shared her thoughts to Rappler regarding her experience as the host of “AsNTM.” Read on for further details.
Wilson admitted that being the host of a prestigious modelling competition is her “most challenging hosting role.” She described her newest project as “the most high profile.” She explained that the pressure she was feeling is more about her skills. Emotions also got the best of her because she was outside the Philippines for a long time.
Wilson believed in the show’s intent to train potential models which is why she kept on encouraging the contestants to take advantage of the once in a lifetime opportunity. She always reminded the girls that they are lucky to have the chance, unlike her. She even creatively described “AsNTM” as “the craziest model boot camp.”
“Everything I’ve learned, I have to learn on the ground running,” Wilson told Rappler.
Can Wilson achieve Tyra Banks’ poker face every time she eliminates a model? She admitted moments when there was a rush of emotions every elimination. However, she started trying her best to control her feelings after the network’s advice that she must maintain “a level of distance.” Hopefully, her “kengkoy” or funny personality would help her become a distinct and less emotional host.
For more “AsNTM” news, Wilson is not the only Filipina in the show. Philippines has three representatives namely Marlena Monika Sta. Maria, Franchesca Denise Lagua and Amanda Bianca Chan. Sta. Maria was a winner of Century Tuna’s Superbod. On the other hand, Lagua had quite an experience in modeling for popular products and events like Enervon, Bench and Fashion Week. Lastly, Chan tried to join “Australia’s Next Top Model,” but her luck is obviously in Asia. This 17-year-old contestant is also the youngest of the aspiring top models.
“AsNTM” also stars contestants Aimee Rose Cheng‐Bradshaw from Singapore, Barbara Akemi Katsuki from Japan, Duong Celine Thuy‐vi from Vietnam, Rani Ramadhany, Tahlia Raji and Ayu Gani from Indonesia, Lorretta Chow and Kirsteen Ching Wing MacGregor Barlow from Hong Kong, Kiana Anora Guyon from Thailand and Shareeta Selvaraj and Melissa Tan Li Hsia from Malaysia.
“AsNTM” airs every Wednesday at 8:45 p.m. on Star World.
