One of the most highly anticipated and most talked about new shows for the new fall television season, “How to Get Away with Murder,” is drawing near. In the meantime, the show has released a first look poster, with the showrunner granting interviews that give the viewers an idea on what they can expect in the series. Read on to learn more about this story.
“How to Get Away With Murder” centers on a brilliant criminal law professor, Annelise Keating, who will be portrayed by Viola Davis. Keating teaches a course which she affectionately calls “How to Get Away with Murder.” She is a tough professor, who only expects the best from her students and only picks the most brilliant among them to work at her law firm. However, their lives change when Keating and her students become embroiled in a murder mystery when a dead body lands at their feet.
The new series will also star Billy Brown, Alfred Enoch, Jack Falahee, Katie Findlay, Aja Naomi King, Matt McGorry, Karla Souza and Liza Weil.
In August, TV Line released the first poster for the show, and it sets the mood for the series perfectly. The poster shows a black-and-white image of Davis as Keating, set against a bloody red background.
With regards to what to expect on the show, it is safe to bet that one should expect the unexpected as Peter Nowalk, the show’s creator, told TV Line that the show will go differently from what viewers will expect it to go. This is completely in line with the show’s theme, which, according to Nowalk, “No one is who they seem to be.” It will prove to be even more true for Liza Weil’s Bonnie Winterbottom.
This recurring theme will drive most of the season forward, while the other half will be about the murder, which will be the main focus towards the end of Season 1. This is consistent with Nowalk’s interview with The Backlot, as he said that the characters themselves will be the driving factor of the show and plot, with the actual mystery solving in the background. This is consistent with other Shonda Rhimes shows, as her shows are mostly character-driven.
Moreover, there will be flashbacks towards the night in which the murder was discovered. However, this will be shown bit by bit, with each flashback adding a new piece to the puzzle, allowing the viewers to also put the pieces together. At the same time, they will also learn more about each and every character n the show.
