Rooney Mara addressed the rumors about her comeback as Lisbeth Salander in the “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo” movie sequel. Read on.
The 30-year-old actress is very vocal on wanting to reprise her role as Lisbeth Salander in the “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo” movie IF a sequel will happen, but the actress also expressed her doubt on playing the character as it has been four years when she last became Lisbeth.
The novel turned movie written by Stieg Larsson and directed by David Fincher became one of the most anticipated movie way back in 2009. The film received positive reviews from well-known movie critics, however, as expected, a film was always considered successful and is worth it for a sequel in terms of numbers or profit that it was able to collect. This led to speculations that since the film only got $232.6 million return from a $90 million budget, making a second movie is not a wise decision.
But, although the movie’s sequel has still no clear details, its lead actress expressed her desire to reprise her role a Lisbeth.
According to her Cinemablend interview, the “Pan” actress is still very much interested in being Lisbeth once again if chances favors to her, even though she admitted that she’s still in doubt that a sequel might happen.
The sequel rumors started early this summer whereas it was reported that the second book, “The Girl Who Played With Fire” and the third book “The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet’s Nest” will be merged together to make a single film, unfortunately, as of writing this article, the production and even the creators themselves has yet to confirmed the rumors.
Mara also noted that maybe it’s all rumor as she hasn’t heard anything about the sequel but insisted that she’s open and very willing to play as Lisbeth once again.
“I think that was just a rumor. I don’t get any updates on that. I would love to continue playing that part. It’s something I’ve really wanted to do now for the last three years, or however long it has been. I just don’t know, it’s been so long now. I really, really, really would still love to do it. But I’ve had to come to peace with the fact that I probably won’t.”(via Cinemablend)
On the other hand, Enstarz cited that Rooney Mara alongside with Hugh Jackman and Levi Miller are set to release their movie called “Pan” this coming Oct. 9, 2015.
