What’s with spin-offs lately? CBS is currently working on “How I Met Your Dad,”  spin-off of the now-defunct “How I Met Your Mother.” And now, Disney Channel is set to launch “Girl Meets World.” If you grew up in the 90s, there is no way that you are not familiar with “Boy Meets World,” especially with Cory Matthews (Ben Savage), Topanga  Lawrence (Danielle Fishel), Eric Matthews (Will Friedle) and Shawn Hunter (Rider Strong). The plot focused on Cory, Topanga and Shawn as they make it through high school life, surviving and succeeding in every trial teenagers their age face.

For the “Girl Meets World,” Topanga and Cory are now proud parents of Auggie (August Maturo) and Riley (Rowan Blanchard). The plot now centers on Riley and her best friend Maya (Sabrina Carpenter), just like Shawn had been to Cory.

Screenrant managed to score a brief synopsis of the upcoming series’ pilot episode. “Girl Meets World” is set in New York City. It will feature adventure and heartwarming stories just like what people have seen in “Boy Meets World,” only that it would be in a tween girl’s perspective. Riley and Maya will embark in a lifelong journey which begins in middle school.

Cory here plays not only Riley’s dad but also a faculty member in her school. Riley, along with Maya, tries to spend the school year free from her dad’s watchful eyes. Meanwhile, Riley’s mom owns a hangout place that is known for its pudding.

Though there is no exact air date yet for the pilot episode, the comedy series is set to be released some time in 2014. Another thing we could look forward to.

According to E! News, Michael Jacobs, creator of the show, has given a look of what people can expect from “Girl Meets World.”

Girl Meets World is a new show for a new generation that will be rooted in the same kind of honest, comedic storytelling about coming of age and the importance of family and friendship that made Boy Meets World so popular,” said Jacobs in the E! News article.

And that’s it for the “Girl Meets World” preview. Stay tuned for more news about it, and soon, we will write about spoilers and episode recaps about the show only here on Movie News Guide (MNG).
