“Girl Meets World” Season 1 Episode 10 “Girl Meets Crazy Hat” aired on Friday, Sept. 26, 2014, at 7:00 p.m. on the Disney Channel. In this episode, Riley Matthews (Rowan Blanchard) started to worry about her future. In order to reassure her, her father and history teacher Cory Matthews (Ben Savage) divided the class into two companies to see how they would do. Read on to learn more about this episode.

Best friends Maya Hart (Sabrina Carpenter) and Riley Matthews (Rowan Blanchard) walked into the subway station and saw their favorite person, a woman they called Crazy Hat because of the interesting hat she wears seated on her favorite bench. They asked her what she thinks when she sits there, and she replied that she observes people. She also observed that they were really good friends and that they had to get to class soon. Crazy Hat also left as she had to give a speech at the United Nations. Riley then wondered if anything like that would happen to her. At this, someone gave her one dollar; and because she was wearing her garbage bag raincoat, she was mistaken once again as garbage.

In class, Cory tried to teach them about Belgium declaring independence in 1831. However, Riley kept on interrupting, asking him what her “thing” was and what would people think if she lived in a subway. Cory then smiled and asked them what their “thing” was, as they would soon enter the workforce. He then decided to divide the class into two groups, who would each have a muffin business. Much to Farkle Minkus’ (Corey Fogelmanis) pleasure, he and Riley were grouped together to form Riley and Farkle Muffins. Farkle then revealed that all he cared about was profit, compared to Lucas Firar (Peyton Meyer, who wanted to treat his customers right. Because of this, Cory put Maya and Lucas together to form Hart and Friar Muffins.

Meanwhile, at home, Auggie Matthews (August Maturo) demanded from his mother Topanga (Daniel Fischel) that he should get paid. He even named a specific amount, which Topanga realized was the price of something, as his birthday was drawing near. In the end, she gave him $10.

Much to her surprise, Auggie had spent the money on costume jewelry for his little girlfriend, Ava. Topanga, annoyed at her presence, made them play a modified game of hide and seek, in which Auggie stayed in a room while he counted, and Topanga kicked Ava out again.

Afterwards, Auggie revealed that he did not have any more money and was worried that nobody would love him. However, Topanga reassured him that she would always love him.

At school, both fake companies set up shop in the school hallway. Riley and Farkle’s cupcakes, although strangely white, were sold out immediately. As there was only one more muffin left, Farkle auctioned the muffin off to the highest bidder.

During class, the two companies were told to give their profit reports. Maya and Lucas reported that despite everything, they had made no profits, as no one wanted to buy from them. However, Farkle and Riley reported that they had a ton of profits.

Lucas protested, saying that it wasn’t fair, as no one wanted to buy from them. Cory then started to wonder what was in the muffins as all of Riley and Farkle’s employees who have eaten it were very hyper. It turned out that Farkle had made the muffins out of pure sugar.

At this, Lucas complained that it was unfair as they had made their muffins out of honey, oatmeal and locally harvested berries. Farkle then decided to merge the two businesses as he brought it the profits, and Lucas had integrity. Initially, Lucas did not want to agree, but he later went with it as Maya reminded him that they had to pay back his mom. Then Farkle did the classic move after a merger happens — downsizing. He instructed Lucas to fire Riley, and since Riley was gone, so was Maya.

Riley and Maya ended up in the subway again, depressed at being fired from a fake job. They told their woes to Crazy Hat, who found them sitting on the bench when she returned from her big meeting. She said that she had gone to her building and had yelled at some people, but she revealed that coming down to the subway station and observing people gives her great joy, as she tries to see how she could help other people.

She then asked Maya and Riley what they saw. They told her that they saw a lot of wet people, as they did not have proper umbrellas to shelter them from the storm that was in New York.

In class, the two girls presented their new company — the Hart and Matthews Umbrella Foundation. It was a nonprofit company that would place racks of donated umbrellas at each subway stop so that everyone would be happy and dry. Farkle was horrified that their new company was nonprofit and asked what they had besides an idea. Crazy Hat then showed up and told the class that they had an investor — her.

It turned out that Crazy Hat was really Evelyn Rand, the CEO of Rand Industries, and she really does have a building named after her. She said that the secret to her success was that she knew a good idea when she saw one, and theirs was. She even gave them a check.

Afterwards, she looked for Farkle. She told him to stop it and gave her the one dollar that Riley had given her earlier. She told him that that dollar was earned with hard work and told him to pass it around because that is what matters.

After Evelyn had left, Lucas tried to join the girls’ company, but Riley refused and promptly fired him.

In the end, Maya and Riley’s umbrella idea worked, creating a happy and busy station of commuters who were dry and safe from the rain thanks to their umbrellas.
