“Girl Meets World” Season 1 Episode 17 “Girl Meets Game Night” aired last Friday, Jan. 9, 2015 at 7:00 PM on the Disney Channel. In this episode, Riley Matthews (Rowan Blanchard), much to the dismay of her father, invited her friends over for Family Game Night. Read on to learn more about this episode.

During Family Game Night, Corey Matthews (Ben Savage) became upset after learning that Riley Matthews (Rowan Blanchard) had invited Maya Hart (Sabrina Carpenter), Lucas Friar (Peyton Meyer) and Farkle Minkus (Corey Fogelmanis) over for Family Game Night. Maya then became delighted as Joshua Matthews (Uriah Shelton) showed up as well for Game Night, and Topanga Matthews (Danielle Fishel) became annoyed after Auggie Matthews (August Maturo)  revealed that he had invited Ava Morganstern (Ava Kolker) to the Game Night, and partnered up with her.

Riley then related her father’s reluctance to change the rules of Family Game Night a little, to their history lesson for that day- the American Revolution, where Riley portrayed John Adams; Farkle, who brought a cannon, portrayed King George III; Maya portrayed Benjamin Franklin, and Lucas portrayed General George Washington.

They then started the game with Joshua as the game show host, and with Corey partnering up with Maya. During the course of the game, Corey had to give his “daughter” over to Lucas and Farkle, and refused to let go, which caused the token to tear. Topanga then got her own shock as Riley, after Ava put her back to the start of the game, decided to partner up with Maya.

During their “new team strategy session”, Maya made Riley realize that her parents were taking this seriously, and Topanga told Cory that she felt bad as she also wanted to make an impression on her daughter, as much as Cory does.

During the entire game, Farkle was happily playing, and Lucas just wanted to go home.

Meanwhile, Riley remembered that in class, her father had taught them that eventually, England and America became friends, thanks to John Quincy Adams, the son of John Adams, and that all they needed to do was play out the long game.

Back inside the living room, Riley decided to play the long game, which they had never done, which allowed all of them to team up to finish the game. She then also told her mother that all she wanted to do was to win the game, so that she would be impressed, as Topanga was very competitive, and a winner.

Many hours later, Ava decided that Auggie’s turn would end the game, which allowed them to see what actually happens when one wins the long game in “The Family Game”.

The scene then flashed back to right after history class, as Riley had invited them over for Family Game Night, and didn’t ask permission from her father, as she believed that it would be okay with him.

And that was all for the recap of “Girl Meets World” Season 1 Episode 17 “Girl Meets Game Night”.  For more news and updates, including spoilers and recaps, on “Girl Meets World” and other television shows, keep following Movie News Guide (MNG).
