Girl Meets World” Season 2 Episode 5 “Girl Meets Mr. Squirrels” aired last Friday, May 15, 2015 at 8:30 p.m. on the Disney Channel. In this episode, Cory Matthews (Ben Savage) called upon the only person he knew who could successfully broker peace between Maya Hart (Sabrina Carpenter) and Riley Matthews (Rowan Blanchard), who were at war- Eric Matthews (Will Friedle), who is also known as the wonderful Mr. Squirrels.  Read on to learn more about this episode.

The episode began in Riley Matthews’ (Rowan Blanchard) room. She and Maya Hart (Sabrina Carpenter) fought about the fact that Riley didn’t defend Maya when she was called a name by Lucas Friar (Peyton Meyer).

This argument spilled over to the next day, before History class. Lucas told Maya that this happened because she hadn’t stopped calling him names, and Farkle Minkus (Corey Fogelmanis) agreed with him as well.

Cory Matthews (Ben Savage) then changed their lesson to how wars are started. Maya tried to sit somewhere else besides sitting beside Riley, who refused to sacrifice the truth for their friendship. Lucas then told them that he had finally struck back at Maya. It was after a whole school year and a half of being called names by Maya. Because of this, Cory decided to bring in someone else to help them out, someone who scratched at Riley’s apartment door, and looked like a bearded hermit with a stick.

After Riley screamed, Cory and Topanga Matthews (Danielle Fishel) realized that Riley had gotten scared of Eric Matthews’ (Will Friedle) “Mr. Squirrels” get up.  Eric, apparently, was the mayor of St. Upidtown, because people trusted him “with the issues.” After letting him in, and after learning that Riley  was fighting with her friend, Eric told her that “there would be no losing friends,” because “lose one friend, lose all friends, lose yourself.”

After removing his beard and wig, they discovered that Lucas had called Maya a “short stack of pancakes,” and didn’t want to be that at all. She also revealed that she was upset because Riley valued being right over their friendship. Eric, who kept on getting Maya’s and Topanga’s names wrong the entire episode, tried making Maya taller and tried to make Riley shorter, but to no avail.

The next day, during class, Cory began talking about the causes of war. Eric, whom he had brought along, kept trying to interrupt him.

Maya then revealed that she now didn’t feel at peace because Riley didn’t have her back.

Cory then told them that the danger of war was that it could escalate, such as what happened at that moment, after Maya hit Farkle with a wad of paper. He then responded with a golf ball gun. He then told them that usually, a mediating body, like the United Nations would try to settle things, but in their case, Eric would do.

Eric then ushered everyone out to the hall, and made them realize that Lucas calling Maya “a short stack of pancakes” hadn’t been “the first shot.” But it had been a long time coming as Maya called him different names always and did so because Lucas, for some reason, allows her to do so. Maya then told Riley that she was mad at her because Maya always had her back, and defended her. It was because they were best friends, which was why nobody called Riley a “super klutz” to her face, as Maya knew that this would hurt her feelings. Riley, a little bit hurt, then sat down on the floor. Maya then joined her, and so did Farkle. He revealed that he was hell bent on world domination because he often felt like a “squeaky mouse” because Lucas looked like “freak.” Lucas then called his friend, Isaiah “Zay” Babineaux (Amir Mitchell-Townes) a flat butt, who sat down beside them.

Eric then told Cory that they needed to realize that everybody went through the same thing at that particular moment in their lives, as they were growing up.

Later, at Topanga’s, Topanga apologized to Eric for not believing in him. Farkle then put the idea of world domination into Mr. Squirrels head.

After the credits, a news reporter reported that the senator for New York had just done “something so stupid” that his chances for re-election were shot unless they pulled out a candidate that was even more stupid than him. Afterward, in an office, a shady politician looked through headshots for a candidate that the Senator could beat, and chose Mr. Squirrels.
