Girls’ Generation: The Most Successful Girl Band Of The Year!

Girls’ Generation tops the chart again! The girl group from SM Entertainment topped the charts on the music ranking site Gaon Music Chart again. According to Korea Times, they have scored a perfect hundred as far as copyright fees and album sales are concerned.

The Gaon Music Chart is compiled and maintained by Korea Music Content Industry Association and is sponsored by South Korean Ministry of Culture Sports and Tourism. It is the South Korean equivalent of the Billboard charts. To show up on the top of the charts on such a precious chart is a matter of great honor and responsibility.

Gaon Music Website analyzed the performance of girl bands that have released songs and albums online or through the stores and came to the conclusion that Girls’ Generation was the definitive winner. The website declared them to be the most active and fruitful the past year, Korea Times reports.

The eight-member girl band has been very active all through 2015, releasing “Party” in July and “Lion Heart in Autumn.” Both the songs were big hits and were placed on top of the charts by Gaon. Taeyeon had also released her first solo album in October, which ranked number 1 at Gaon.

The band’s smaller unit TTS, which includes the three stars of Girls’ Generation, Taeyeon, Seohyun and Tiffany, has also released an album called “Dear Santa” recently which is ranked ninth in album sales on the website.
