Before its final season offering in 2015, “Glee” makes sure that their fans would get the only the best out of the award-winning musical comedy series on the FOX network. In fact, for “Glee” Season 5, Shirley MacLaine will join the cast as a guest star.
Michael Ausiello of TV Line exclusively reported that the show tapped Oscar-winning actress and Hollywood Legend Shirley MacLaine to be a guest star in several episodes of “Glee” Season 5. She would portray the role of a New York City socialite who will make a superstar out of Darren Criss’ character in the show. TV Line also posted an exclusive behind the scenes shot during their practice from Dante Di Loreto.
The 79-year old thespian joins the star-studded list of guest stars in “Glee” including Demi Lovato (“The X-Factor”) and Adam Lambert (“American Idol”). And that’s only with Season 5! Check out the ENTIRE LIST of notable celebrities who came to the show posted on The Hollywood Reporter.
According to Hypable, this may be a sign of more TV appearances for the actress. This is not the first time that MacLaine has been a guest in a TV show. She also appeared in the British period drama “Downton Abbey” in 2013. She played the role of Martha Levinson, the mother of Lady Graham in the Series 3, Christmas Special episode of the show.
Despite her limited TV resume, she was already a critically-acclaimed actress in several award-winning films. Throughout her stellar career, she had won 4 Golden Globe Awards for her roles in two musical/comedy films (“The Apartment”, “Irma la Douce”) and two drama films (“Terms of Endearment”, “Madame Sousatzka”), an Oscar, one Emmy and two BAFTA awards out of seven nominations.
Shirley MacLaine’s film appearances in the last decades were in “Rumor Has It..” (2005), “Bewitched” (2005), “In Her Shoes” (2005) ,”Valentine’s Day” (2010) and “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty” (2013). She also starred in the critically-acclaimed autobiography miniseries “Coco Chanel,” in which she has been nominated by the Primetime Emmys, Golden Globe Awards and Screen Actors Guild Awards in 2008.
