The heist comedy film Going in Style is the remake of the 1979 popular film of the same name. The original film is known for its witty characters that were adored by the audience. However, that film is projected differently and has a lot of variation in its execution. The minor classic caper film of 1979 was based on the story of Joe, Albert, and Willie. The remake has retained all the major details of the film and nothing much has been altered in the storyline.

Willie, Joe, and Albert are on the verge of retirement when their company is bought out. In the given situation, their pension suffers during the restructuring of the new company. Lonely, alone, and left with no money in hand, they decide to rob their pensions. The three old mates get inspired by a by bank robbery and decide to follow the same format for taking out pension funds from company’s bank accounts.
The end of Going in Style has been altered from the original one and the three men are let off easily and it concludes with a surprisingly happy ending. However, the original one was pretty different as they were held up in prison. Indeed, the premise of the film has been changed since it is set in the current era with many advanced things around. There is definitely going to be a huge comparison between the films and their reception by the audience.

The film stars Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, and Alan Arkin in the lead roles as Willie, Jo, and Albert. Willie, Joe, and Al are the former co-workers of a plant who face a miserable shuffle at a bank the opening scene. The trailer begins with the brief introduction of the three retired men who are together and perhaps enjoying the post-work phase of their lives. However, their life gets shattered after the company announced that their pension has gone in the restructuring. But they decide to get their money back after witnessing a bank robbery. The trailer is fun filled and full of thrilling adventure.
Original Film Reception
The 1979 film cast George Burns, Art Carney, and Lee Strasberg in the lead roles. The Martin Brest directorial received generally positive reviews. The film was praised for the execution of ideas like being alone in old age, financial crisis, and lack of empathy. The performances of the lead actors were remarkable and applauded for the putting the genuine emotions of their characters on screen.
Release Date & Production Details
Going in Style was earlier scheduled to be released on May 6 last year but it was shifted to a new date by Warner Bros. It will be now released on April 7, 2017. It will open along with animated adventure Smurfs: The Lost Village and the Christian drama film The Case for Christ.
Market analysts are expecting the film to cross a gross figure of $8 million on its opening weekend. It is speculated that the Smurfs sequel is going to give a tough competition for the business of the upcoming remake as it is one of the most successful franchises.
The film has been made in a production budget of $24 million and had been majorly shot in Brooklyn and Astoria.
