Kevin Durant, the former MVP, and all NBA trade rumors surrounding him are basically hungry speculations on where he might end up next. It’s not a question of whether or not some team wants him; rather, it’s a matter of who makes the best, most enticing offer for Durant—one that is compelling enough to make him say yes.
Chris Broussard on Monday dropped what many believe to be a legitimate NBA free agency speculation bomb on “SportsCenter”. What Broussard said regarding Kevin Durant made a lot of fans do a double-turn and sit down and seriously consider the implications. According to Broussard, the bottom line is money: if the cap shoots through the roof and touches a billion dollars, the money will end up in majority of the teams, and hence, they would want to use it to pursue major talent. But what makes Chris Broussard’s speculation bomb compelling this time is the mention of the hottest team in NBA right now: Golden State Warriors. Because seriously, the implications of Kevin Durant joining this already powerful team are astounding.
But the one that really will shock people and this is what a few executives around the League have told me, Golden State. Wouldn’t that be something? Golden tate will have money. They would have to let Harrison Barnes go as a free agent, probably trade Andrew Bogut but they’ll have the money to go after Kevin Durant. They can have the money, and remember, a few years ago when they didn’t even have cap pace, they went after Dwight Howard. So this is an ambitious front office that is looking, you know, to really turn this team into a dynasty, and that’s certainly what it would be if Kevin Durant would go there.
Golden State Warriors seriously making a move on acquiring Kevin Durant makes so much sense. But fan will have to wait and see if any deal will actually pushes through in the coming months.
