Who You Gonna Call? Bill Murray Joins Dan Aykroyd in ‘Ghostbusters’ Reboot

Here is the best news of the week: Bill Murray is going to appear in Paul Feig’s all-female “Ghostbusters.” Murray, who has been notoriously negative about the idea of a reboot, has apparently done a volte face and ‘snuck into’ the film’s Boston sets. Read on to find out more.

Though the 64-year-old star has previously called any idea of a reboot “crazy talk” and “a crock of shit”, he is apparently given his blessings to Feig’s film. The Hollywood Reporter mentioned that it is not known whether it was the all-female cast that finally won him over, but the famously whimsical Murray has confirmed his appearance in “Ghostbusters.”

It is not yet known whether Murray will be reprising his character Dr. Peter Venkman, so it is not too late to hope he will be starring as the oozy ghost Slimer. Murray’s hesitancy over a new “Ghostbusters” movie is due to to critical panning of 1989’s “Ghostbusters II.” But it seems the casting of his personal dream team from SNL has been enough to overcome his qualms.

“Ghostbusters” stars Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones as the ghoul-zapping team and Chris Hemsworth as their Secretary. Both McCarthy and Wiig are part of the “dream team” Murray asked for at the 30th anniversary of original 1984 “Ghostbusters.” And like Murray, they are also SNL veterans.

The news comes in the wake of another original cast joining the reboot. Last month, Hollywood Life confirmed that Dan Aykroyd would also be featured in a cameo in “Ghostbusters.” It was when Ackroyd tweeted about shooting a scene with Wiig.

“Ghostbusters” hits theaters on July 22, 2016.
