‘Goosebumps 2’ confirmed as Jack Black Escapes Werewolves and Garden Gnomes in Trailer

The second trailer for  “Goosebumps” is here and it must have really scared somebody on its way, with the studio apparently already working on a sequel, “Goosebumps 2.” Read on to find out more.

Jack Black is ‘Mister R. L. Stine’ (spoken the in snobbiest college professor accent you can imagine) in the new trailer for “Goosebumps.” The film is based on the popular series of children’s horror books by the actual R. L. Stine, who presumably does not spray himself with deodorant to mollify werewolves.

The trailer has yetis, werewolves, giant insects and an out-of-control Ferris wheel, all creations of ‘Stine’s’ book which have somehow magically escaped their pages, and now must be put back. It also has the murdery garden gnomes from our favorite Goosebumps book of all time, “The Revenge of the Lawn Gnomes.”  Apart from Black, “Goosebumps” stars a very generic Dylan Minnette who looks like every teen-age protagonist in every family-action movie ever, and an infinitely better Odeya Rush.

It is all a bit hard to understand, but it must be working for somebody, as Sony is already fast tracking a sequel, imaginatively titled “Goosebumps 2,” according to Tracking Board. To be fair, “Goosebumps” as a franchise is wildly popular with the children’s books having sold an unbelievable 350 million copies worldwide. It also caused a tepid Canadian-American television series which tried its best to scare audiences and is now available for streaming on Netflix.

Producer Neil Moritz (“21 Jump Street”) will be returning to the project with Black, Rush and Minnette though it is not known if director Rob Letterman (who also made “Gulliver’s Travels” with Black) is going to return.

“Goosebumps” is out in theaters on Oct. 16, 2015.
