Their reel life love is widely celebrated onscreen. Now it’s tim to cheer for their real love as Morena Baccarin and her “Gotham” costar, Ben McKenzie are reportedly to be the proud parents of a newborn very soon.
Interestingly, the couple have not yet officially confirmed about their romantic involvement but public appearances are enough to make it certain. Even while attending the 67th Primetime Emmy Awards together last Saturday, the duo was looking extremely warm and comfortable with each other.
However, Baccarin has a child with her estranged producer- director husband, Austin Chick. The separated couple hold a joint custody of their son Julius. Baccarin and her ex-husband were married in 2011, and Chick filed for divorce on June 12, 2015, citing irreconcilable differences.
On the other hand, McKenzie is going to be a father for the first time but even this time he prefers to be tight-lipped about Baccarin’s pregnancy with his child. Moreover, there was no noticeable baby bump when Baccarin and 37-year-old McKenzie were spotted together at multiple events over Emmy Awards weekend, and posed together on the red carpet at Fox’s after party.
But the rumor has smoked up as the “Homeland” actress filed court documents on Thursday regarding the custody of her one-year-old son Julius. The petition has been advocated on the grounds of her pregnancy, that is allegedly at the end of her first trimester now. The Brazilian model-actress urges the judge to award her full custody of her son with her ex-husband, Austin.
The news comes to light as Baccarin finalizes the divorce from her estranged husband, Austin Chick. She seeks an order from the judge that may confer her ex to move to New York from Los Angeles so the two can maintain joint custody.
As the news of Baccarin’s pregnancy flashes in several gossip columns and social media; the fans have started freaking out with the good news as Ben McKenzie is going to be a dad, just over a month after his former costar Adam Brody also welcomed a baby.
In “Gotham” the would-be-parents have essayed the characters who were seen to do romance in the first season; whereas now are sharing their lives together in the current episodes.
On the Batman-prequel show, that recently has opened its second season on Fox, McKenzie appears as Detective Jim Gordon, Gotham City’s last honest cop; and Baccarin, who plays Dr. Leslie Thompkins, a medical examiner who often helps Gordon with solving crimes.
Interestingly enough the pair has previously worked together on “The O.C.” in 2006, the Fox hit that made McKenzie a star. Baccarin made a one-episode appearance in that show, whereas she joined “Gotham” in 2014.
