In the latest episode of “Gotham,” Episode 3 “The Balloonman,” we were given a different perspective on balloons. Read on for the full recap of this episode.
The episode opened with a thin man wearing a pig mask with a Bernie Madoff proxy to a weather balloon and sent it into orbit. It seems like that this is a routine-y kind of thing when we saw another victim who got the same fate. Well, that’s creepy. However, it turns out that “The Balloonman” was taking corrupt officials, not innocent people.
Detectives were already suspecting Gordon that he was the one who let Cobblepot go, but Gordon kept his ground and didn’t admit to it. Then we saw Oswald back, who was so thirsty for vengeance, and he’s broke. He got himself a job at a food joint that is being run by Salvatore Maroni, who’s planning to go after Carmine Falcone. Just like that, the two hit it off with Maroni, seeing his younger self in Oswald, and gave him a wad of cash. The question here is: Will Maroni be Oswald’s ticket to the crime world?
Selina visited Gordon because she knows information on who killed the Waynes. Gordon reassured her that she will not be sent upstate because she’s helping him with the investigation. Bullock wasn’t so happy about this because for him, Gordon should stop investigating the murder of the Waynes. Gordon, determined to get to the bottom of it, went with Selina at the scene of the murder, where Selina reenacted everything that she saw. However, Gordon wasn’t convinced. In fact, he came to a realization that Selina perhaps just didn’t want to be sent away with the rest of the orphans. Selina told him that her help will be very valuable. To prove that she does know what happened that night, she told him what she was doing before she came across the murder scene — pickpocketing someone but dropped the wallet in the sewer. Gordon still didn’t believe her, so she handcuffed her. He was about to send her back when he found the wallet Selina was talking about. However, before he can question her, Selina got away.
Montoya and Allen went to Fish Mooney to ask Oswald’s whereabouts, but Fish Mooney told them that Oswald is dead, and it was Gordon who killed him. We all know that this is not true. Montoya and Allen came to Gordon and told them that they knew he was the one who killed Oswald. Montoya came to Barbara and told her about this, but Barbara didn’t believe him. What Gordon doesn’t know YET that the woman he’s about to marry is the ex of the police who wants to take him down so bad.
We also saw a much older Bruce Wayne having a swordfight with his butler, Alfred. Falcone told Fish Mooney that he will figure out who’s after him, and Mooney wished him luck on that.
In the end, Balloonman was caught but not with a last few words. He told Gordon that there will be more of him in the kind of the city that they live in because people there are so corrupt, and you just can’t simply trust anyone. Gordon took this to heart. The episode ended with Oswald right at Gordon’s doorstep.
