Good news for all the Batman fans out there. Although this article will not really talk about the early life of your favorite superhero, knowing about the city he grew up with will surely help you understand why Gotham, in the future, will need Batman. Here’s a sneak peek at FOX’s new series. Read on to find out more about “Gotham.”
FOX network confirmed that they are going to showcase “Gotham,” a TV series of which characters are based on DC Comics. The said show does not have a tentative air date yet, but it is produced by Warner Brothers Television. Bruno Heller, executive producer, wrote the series’ pilot episode, as reported in the network’s official website. Danny Cannon of “CSI” and “Nikita” will direct the said episode.
The plot will focus on the young James Gordon (Ben McKenzie). He is engaged to Barbara Kean (Erin Richards). Gordon feels a certain connection to the city as he tries to restore its peace and order.
Although a neophyte detective, Gordon is paired with Harvey Bullock (Donal League). The two are faced with the city’s high-profile case in history—the murder of billionaires Martha and Thomas Wayne. Gordon meets Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) at the scene of the crime and promises the boy to catch his parents’ perpetrator/s.
As Gordon moves around his beloved Gotham, he will meet the villains that will disturb the peace he once worked hard to maintain. Such notable characters include Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett Smith), Oswald “The Penguin” Cobblepot (Robin Lord Taylor) and Selina “Catwoman” Kyle (Camren Bicondova).
The focus of the series is Gordon’s rise to fame and his growing friendship with the vulnerable Bruce Wayne, who is raised by the butler, Alfred (Sean Pertwee).
Meanwhile, McKenzie took to social networking site Twitter his feelings about being able to bag the former Gary Oldman role:
“All I can promise is I will do my best not to screw this up. Can’t wait to get to work,” tweeted McKenzie on his official Twitter account.
