“Gotham”, based on its second season track record, has indeed come a long way since the first season, especially as it now has several interesting and morally ambiguous rogues in its roster. However, fans of the series will be in for another wild ride when “Gotham” returns in February, as the “Rise of the Villains” is nowhere near done yet, especially with the revelation of who killed Bruce Wayne’s (David Mazouz) parents, and as the final moments of the fall finale teased the appearance of one of the most iconic villains in Batman history- Mr. Freeze (Nathan Darrow). WARNING: This article will contain spoilers for the upcoming episodes of “Gotham” when it returns after the break. Read on to learn more about Mr. Freeze and as to who we will be seeing next on “Gotham”.
Many were surprised when Silver St. Cloud (Natalie Alyn Lind) revealed the name of the man who killed Bruce Wayne’s (David Mazouz) parents, as viewers and fans heard a name that, while seated in Batman mythology, wasn’t the name that they expected.
For fans of the comics, they were expecting Silver to utter the name of Joe Chill, the man, who, in the comics, killed Thomas and Martha Wayne, and was responsible for creating the event that created Batman.
However, in “Gotham”, Silver gave another name- M. Malone.
According to Comic Book.com, M. Malone stands for Patrick “Matches” Malone, a criminal, who, in the television series, will be a hardened killer and hit man.
The report also stated that Malone will debut in the second half of the second season, and will be portrayed by Michael Bowen.
This incarnation of the character will be different from his comic book counterpart, who was a small-time criminal. After he dies, Batman covers up the death so that he can use this identity in order to go undercover in various criminal rings.
Variety also recently reported that actress Lori Petty will be joining the cast of “Gotham”, with ties to Malone.
She will be portraying an underground nightclub hostess who will give the young Bruce some clues to point him towards Malone.
Also, Collider just reported that a new teaser trailer for the second half of the second season has just been dropped, which features Mr. Freeze.
In the trailer, Detective James “Jim” Gordon’s (Ben McKenzie) voice is heard saying that the criminals and villains have changed and that no matter what, he will be ready for them.
In the background, the concrete and a police badge get frozen over, teasing the arrival of Mr. Freeze (Nathan Darrow), who was first seen in the fall finale.
