Episode 14 of “Gravity Falls,” the long-awaited “The Stanchurian Candidate,” is just around the corner what things could we expect from it? Read on for more details.
Well, one possible hint is the realization of “Gravity Falls” creator Alex Hirsch’s post on twitter back in February. You could recall that his on twitter stated that there would at least be one character death this season. Whether that death is present on the next episode or not given his statement and Ford’s, Stanley’s twin brother, absence from the teaser trailer of episode 14, some suspect that it is Grunkle Stan’s twin brother who’ll be the one pushing up the daisies.
However, vailskibum94 of Youtube suspects that it is Stanley Pines who would be six feet under by the end of the season. He based his speculation from several recurring events. It seems that Grunkle Stan’s replicas keeps on getting destroyed.
Although another speculation points to the current mayor of “Gravity Falls.” Several evidences found in the series points to this outcome. The first evidence is when the mayor said he was waiting for the grim reaper, as mentioned by MoviePilot. Second is having an election in summer which is unusual unless something happens to the current mayor. It hinders him from acting out his duties to the townsfolk, like death. Having the current mayor bite the dust also serves as a good excuse for the upcoming episode’s title which resembles the 1959 novel, “The Manchurian Candidate.”
The book’s plot revolves around brainwashed soldiers who came home to the US from the Korean war. These soldiers are sleeper agents for the Communists. They tried to use them to assassinate the presidential candidate. The deed would in turn gain overwhelming support for the Communists’ very own candidate.
With episode 14’s title, it could very well be that we will see the book’s plot play out in the cartoon and this will also accomplish Hirsch’s prophecy.
