“Grey’s Anatomy” season 12 will focus on Meredith Grey’s new life after Derek Shepherd death at the end of last season. Read on to know more details.
Actress Ellen Pompeo has confirmed that Meredith will have an uphill task living without Derek in the new season. Ellen admitted that losing characters such as Derek marks a big shift in the show. “But a show that runs this long, you welcome those big changes. It makes everything feel so much different and that’s what we’re looking for in season 12.” she said.
The cast of the show has been back to work for a month and things are different on the set too. “Grey’s Anatomy’s” early season saw witty and funny interactions between the interns and now those interns have grown up on the series as well as in real life. Therefore, the light-hearted feel of the show might get serious in the new season.
However, Shonda Rhimes claims differently that they had a table read for the script and the entire room laughed a lot and she hadn’t seen people laugh so much ever since season 1. Even the bereaved character of Meredith will get humor, albeit dark humor.
According to Inquisitr, Derek’s death will not only affect Meredith, but Amelia too. She will not have someone looking over her shoulder and her clashes with Derek will be missed. Alex Karev will be given more screen time this season and Rhimes has revealed that more will be shown about Alex and Jo’s relationship. Season 11 ended with the couple making a major decision about their relationship. That is to move in together.
Shonda Rhimes has said that they were to show more about Alex and Jo in “Grey’s Anatomy” season 11 too, but as Patrick Dempsey was leaving, they had to take a left turn.
“Grey’s Anatomy” Season 12 will premiere on ABC on September 24.
