“Grey’s Anatomy” Season 12 will focus on Jo and Alex’s relationship since McDreamy is now out of the picture. Read on for more details.
In the last season, Jo and Alex’s story was pushed back because of Derek a.k.a McDreamy’s storyline, which is the highlight of the series that season. But now, showrunner, Shonda Rhimes confirms that fans should not worry now as the “JAlex” pair will have the spotlight this time.
According to Rhimes, since McDreamy is gone, the show will be shifting its focus to the strongest couple the show has ever had. Jo and Alex will be the center this season since they’ve been on the backburner from the start of the medical drama series. Although they had some scenes, for the fans—it’s still not enough to feel their favorite couple. So here it is, at last! Rhimes promised fans that this Season 12 will have a lot of “JAlex” moments—‘real focus’ for the pair!
In addition to this, HollywoodLife also reported that Camilla Luddington’s (Jo) and Justin Chamber’s (Alex) characters will be the front and center of the upcoming season. Rhimes even added that there’s so much story that needed to be explored in their relationship—there’s so much story to tell that fans should know. Meaning, this upcoming season, fans will be able to have a deeper grasp to Jo and Alex as a couple.
Based on Rhimes’ interview with TVLine, they had a lot of stories that they wanted to tell since last season, but because they were trapped with Patrick Dempsey’s character, McDreamy, they need to take a turn to focus to his character. But this time, “JAlex” stories will be explored…in a lighter way.
Rhimes also said that it’s time to see them in a different way. She realized that fans haven’t gotten to know the couple even Jo and Alex as individuals. She said that Alex is far from the man we already knew at the beginning of the show, even Jo’s character. There’s so much about them that viewers didn’t know.
Last Season 11, we saw that Jo and Alex already had their own house and have decided to take their relationship to the next level. It was a big step for them. However, in the finale, during their heartwarming scene, Alex realized that he never heard Jo say “I love you” to him. When he asked the latter about this, Jo simply answered him that she thinks she doesn’t have to say it before sharing a passionate kiss.
“Grey’s Anatomy” Season 12 is set to premiere this coming Sept. 24, 2015.
