“Ground Floor” Season 2 Episode 1 “Unforgiven” aired last Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2014, at 10:00 p.m. on TBS. Brody and Jenny got back from a glorious vacation in Paris, and immediately, Brody had to earn his job back from Mansfield. Find out what happened to this episode in the recap below.
The second season of the series opened with Brody (Skylar Astin) and Jenny (Briga Heelan) aboard the plane from Paris. She was telling him how she had such a lovely time during their vacation, and the best part was, his boss, Mansfield (John C. McGinley), did not make any calls and emails that would disrupt their holiday. Apparently, this was the only time Jenny was finding out that her boyfriend was fired.
Jenny: You blew off a great job to go on vacation with your girlfriend? It’s so stupid!
And then things got weird for Brody. Threepeat (Rene Gube) and Derrick (James Earl) were also on the plane, as was Harvard (Rory Scovel) and Mansfield. Turned out, Brody was having a bad dream! He woke up on the plane feeling slightly unhinged. Jenny still didn’t know the truth. He was supposed to tell her about it in Paris, but he lost his window of opportunity.
Back at work, Jenny was surprised to find that only Harvard and Derrick were left at the ground floor. Apparently, while she was gone and left Harvard in charge, the latter fired the entire staff. This was not alright with Jenny. Coming from a wonderful holiday, she wasn’t going to let anyone ruin the afterglow. Harvard promised her he will get replacements.
Brody was back in what used to be his desk, but his replacement, Lindsay (Emily Heller), was already sitting there. Brody went to Mansfield’s office but found Threepeat there instead. The boss wasn’t due to return until tomorrow, so he was taking his desk while Mansfield was gone. Brody declared that he was going to try to convince him to give his job back. Suddenly, Mansfield appeared.
Threepeat: You were not supposed to be back here until tomorrow.
Mansfield: I’m on Hong Kong time. This is tomorrow.
Brody was about to begin making his pitch, but Mansfield called security on him. Threepeat suggested that he should look for a job at another firm, but Brody insisted he was not ready to let this one go.
Later, Jenny was at Mansfield’s office to give souvenirs. She thought it was so great of the big boss to let Brody go without emailing or calling him in Paris. Mansfield loved the gift, but he realized that Jenny wasn’t aware of the truth. So he had to tell her and she had to talk to Brody about it.
Jenny: Why did you not tell me that you got fired?
Brody: Look, I wanted to but we were having such a great time in Paris, I didn’t want you to feel guilty.
Jenny: Baby, I love you and I’m sorry you lost this job, but I’m not going to feel guilty about it.
Brody: You’re right. Going on that trip was my mistake.
Jenny: Oh, so now it’s a mistake.
Brody: I’m having a hard time choosing my words today!
Jenny: Babe, I know how important that job is to you, so I can’t imagine how hard this has been. But you know, if you love somebody, you've got to be honest with them.
Brody realized he has to tell Mansfield that truth, even though Jenny was referring to their relationship.
At Mansfield’s office, Brody once again convinced his boss for his job. He would like to start over, even if he has to start from the bottom. Guess what? He applied for a job at Jenny’s department, which was bad news for Harvard.
Harvard was interviewing replacements, but he couldn’t find anyone suitable. They all reminded him of Brody, and he still hated him because he saw him as a competition for Jenny’s heart. But when he found out that Brody was fired from his high profile job, it made him really happy.
Anyway, Brody would like to prove to Mansfield he’s willing to do anything for his job. Was Jenny comfortable working together?
So now, Brody became the new guy who would be taking care of plants in the office and his first task was to bring Mansfield’s fern back in good condition. Mansfield pretended he was not pleased with this latest development, as he had originally wanted Brody out of the building. But seeing how Brody was determined to win his trust again, he smiled at the thought. But he wouldn’t let Brody know just how pleased he was yet.
