“Ground Floor” was renewed for a second season last March 2014. The cable comedy created by Bill Lawrence and Greg Malins was picked up with another 10-episode agreement for its sophomore run. TBS recently announced that the show will return on Dec. 9, 2014. Read on to learn more about this news story.
The workplace comedy that stars Skylar Astin, John C. McGinley and Briga Heelan premieres its second season on TBS on Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2014 at 10:00 p.m., as reported on TV Line. The show is coming back with a change in its timeslot, as it used to air on a Wednesday.
“Ground Floor” debuted on Nov. 13, 2013 to decent ratings for a cable series. It subsequently maintained its 1.2 million to 1.7 million viewership week after week. Its final episode for the first season drew at least 1.8 million viewers, comprising 1.1 million adult viewers between the ages of 18-49.
“Ground Floor” revolves around Brody (Astin), a young and up and coming investment banker who enters into a relationship with Jennifer (Heelan). The two work in the same building, except Jennifer is assigned at the ground floor, in the maintenance department. Their relationship and upbringing couldn’t be more opposite, so friction and struggle come into play. On top of that, Brody’s boss, Mr. Mansfield (McGinley), is also critical of the young banker’s choices. The series charts how the couple learns to deal with issues in their relationship, while they work together. This series is the corporate comedy equivalent of “Romeo and Juliet.”
Upon its return, the show has also enlisted a new cast member to join the series. Emily Heller, a stand-up comedian who worked as a writer in the comedy “Surviving Jack” on FOX, which Lawrence also created, will be recurring on “Ground Floor.”
Heller has been cast in the role of Lindsay, a newbie at Remington Trust. The character is described as a genius but with awkward social skills. Having recently graduated business school ahead of her contemporaries and being raised in a small town, Lindsay will experience a bit of a culture shock working in such a male-dominated financial environment in a big city.
