‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Animated Series: Latest Clip Reveals Groot’s Origin

They were the most odd superhero team to have fought evil and save the galaxy. Comprising of a thief, two mercenaries, one assassin and a maniac, one would not have turned to them seeking protection. When the movie “Guardians of the Galaxy” released, there was one character who was unanimously considered to be the most adorable in the team. That was Groot, the tree like creature who would do anything for his friends. An animated series was also announced following the humongous success of the movie and the series has recently revealed something that everyone would want to know.

According to Comicbook.com, Marvel has released a clip that gives you a little glimpse in the origin of Groot. According to the clip that presumably has Rocket’s narration, Groot’s home is shown in the form of a Planet X where a much younger Groot can be seen honing his skills. There are no dialogues in the clip since he speaks just the three words I am Groot, but the scene in particular tells you a lot about how Groot became the powerful being he is today. In the clip, there is another Groot but unlike the Groot that we know, he is much older and looks more experienced since he can be seen training the younger Groot. It can be assumed that he is Groot’s father who is teaching him the skills of being a Groot and the power that comes with it. Once the fight is over, the older Groot pats the younger’s head and shows him their power source.

This power source as told by Rocket Raccoon is called the World Pod, which is said to be all of the Groot’s origin. It indicates that every Groot has originated from this single seed that the senior Groot plants and shows. Our younger Groot is astonished and that’s when his father takes off the seed from his own chest to show him what their power source is like. Just before the younger Groot takes off his seed to take a look at it, a large spaceship appears on Planet X that belongs to Ronan, the Accuser. It can be assumed until now that it was actually Ronan who caused the destruction of Groot’s home and somehow Groot managed to escape and later came in touch with Rocket Raccoon thus becoming his best friend.

“Guardians of the Galaxy” animated series will premiere on September 26th on Disney XD.
