Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2: How Can Marvel Use Sylvester Stallone’s New Superhero Team

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is currently running in theaters. Apart from getting to see Chris Pratt and his team once again, fans got to see Sylvester Stallone in the movie.

He plays a very popular character and ever since news about him being in the hit movie, fans have been speculating what his role in MCU means. Also, it is interesting to know how Marvel plans on using him in future.

James Gunn’s statement

Cinema Blend reported what James Gunn said about having Stallone in MCU. According to the outlet, Gunn plans on seeing more of the veteran star’s character but is not sure as to when he will appear.

Addressing the possibility of seeing Stallone’s Starhawk in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Gunn stated that he is not sure of that happening. However, he did mention that he along with Kevin Feige are planning a Marvel Cosmic universe.

The cosmic universe might just end up accommodating Stallone as well as his team, which happens to be the original Guardians of the Galaxy from the comics.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

Even though Gunn has hinted that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 might not feature Stallone’s Starhawk and his team, it is one of the movies that their appearance is still likely.

The way how Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 ended, it is quite certain that Star-Lord and his team will need some extra assistance as they move on to their reported final mission in the galaxy.

This is when Starhawk and his team namely Charlie-27, Martinex, Krugarr, Aleta Ogord and Mainframe can step in. They can be side characters in the movie but with the possibility of taking the story ahead when Star-Lord and his team’s story finishes.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 4

There have been some rumors about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 4 but nothing is confirmed yet. If there is a fourth installment, it can see Starhawk and his team taking over.

But before this happens, Star-Lord and his team’s story arc will have to wrap up by the third installment. Since there are already reports of that happening, it is possible that Pratt’s character and his team will exit the universe and Stallone’s team will step in.

One of the post-credits scenes did see Starhawk reuniting with his older team after getting inspired by Yondu’s sacrifice. This could be a hint that the team will have something to do in the near future.

Apart from this Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 4 can also be a spin-off of the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy and feature the team.

Avengers: Infinity War

Avengers: Infinity War also looks like a suitable place for Stallone’s team to show up. The ensemble movie already has tons of heroes showing up. But since Avengers and Guardians will be fighting Thanos, having more heroes will only be beneficial.

When the combined forces of Avengers and Guardians start to crumble against Thanos, Starhawk and his team can show up to fight the mad titan. Again the reason why Starhawk would come to assist the heroes is because he himself will be inspired by Yondu’s sacrifice.

Appearance in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

Stallone’s role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 was very brief but given how Marvel prefers to set up characters before hand, it could certainly mean that the original Guardians team from the comics will have some role going ahead.

In his appearance, he had a word with Yondu, with whom he shared a father/son type relation and also reunited with his ex-teammates after getting inspired by Yondu.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 explores Peter Quill’s parentage and the team’s journey as they try to stick together. The team will now show up in Avengers: Infinity War, when they will collaborate with Avengers to kill Thanos.
