“Guardians of the Galaxy” was a runaway hit at the box office. The movie, essentially changed a lesser-known property and turned it into something more sought after superhero movies. All the characters, be it Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Groot or Rocket, come from different backgrounds and after getting some basic information about their backgrounds, surely one would want to know more about them. However, it seems the makers are going ahead with Drax’s backstory and will be making some changes to him.
According to Cinema Blend, Dave Bautista was on the sets of his upcoming movie “Spectre” when he got down to speak about his role in 2017 release “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2.” In the interview he stated that the makers are planning to do some changes to the Guardian who is said to have lightning fast reflexes.
The “Spectre” star stated that the makers are planning to tell more of Drax’s backstory along with other characters of the team. The makers have this as their goal because the characters are really interesting and that is what makes them really relatable. “Guardians of the Galaxy” did brush up a little on who the characters were and from where did they land up in the situation they were actually in, but with the sequel, planning is to show a bit more than that would certainly be interesting.
For all those who are unaware, Drax the Destroyer was actually known as Arthur Douglas, a saxophonist whose family was killed by Ronan, the Accuser who also shared this detail back in “Guardians of the Galaxy,” but it was later revealed that it was Thanos who Drax really seeks revenge from because he was the one responsible for his family’s death.
MTV News added that Bautista did confirm that there would be a lot more Drax apart from the fact that he had some inputs about how his character Drax needed more tattoos in “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2.” The movie is said to release on May 5th 2017.
