‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ will not have any Connection to ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ as pre-production has begun in Atlanta

Just some time back, “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” director James Gunn shared the news that he will be in Atlanta for the next ten months working on the sequel of “Guardians of the Galaxy” and as the pre-production work on the movie continues to move forward, James Gunn with each day continues to clarify any speculations surrounding the movie. The latest one being “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2” somehow connecting itself to “Avengers: Infinity War” in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

According to Cinema Blend, during a live Facebook Q&A session, James spoke about a potential connection between “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2” and “Avengers: Infinity War” and going by his words, it does not sound the two superhero teams are ever going to cross paths in the MCU. He stated that at the moment he is only concerned with “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2” when compared to “Avengers: Infinity War” and believes that the Guardians have an independent story to themselves, which the upcoming movie will indicate because the movie happens to be very structured.

Following his comments, it seems James is more inclined towards making “Guardians of the Galaxy” as an independent entity within the MCU and even in the future one might not see the Guardians lend a helping hand in “Avengers: Infinity War” when the Earth based heroes will be fighting against the mad Titan Thanos. Also, James’s comments are in sync with what Dave Bautista said about “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2” focusing more on the backstory of the Guardians back in an interview with the media outlet.

Given that both the Guardians and the Avengers have a common enemy in the form of Thanos, it would be ideal to join forces because once Thanos does get his hands on the Infinity Gauntlet. He will make sure to not leave anyone alive as he himself will boast powers equivalent to the Gods.

Fanbolt added that Atlanta in the coming months is going to witness a bunch of stars roaming around in their city because that’s where movies like “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2,” “Thor: Ragnarok” is going to shoot at the Pinewood Studios. Currently “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2” star Chris Pratt is already in Atlanta shooting for his other movie “Passengers” opposite Jennifer Lawrence. “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2” will release on May 5, 2017.
