Despite numerous and persisting rumors, Adam Warlock still will not appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 slated to hit theaters soon, the excitement of possibly seeing the comic book character on the big screen was sparked anew. Unfortunately, if the powerful legend will appear in the movies, it will not happen in the space sequel by James Gunn.
Infinity Gauntlet’s Adam Warlock Connection
Adam Warlock played a significant role in the war against Thanos (Josh Brolin) in the comics universe. That is why many expect the character to appear in the Avengers battle with the Mad Titan on the big screen. Hopes were renewed when fans have spotted his cocoon inside the Collector’s museum in the post-credits of Thor: The Dark World. Gunn himself teased the possibility of Adam Warlock’s existence in the MCU when he admitted that Ayesha (Elizabeth Debicki) might be from the same race as “Him.”
But, if Adam Warlock debuts in MCU, it will not happen in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. During a Q&A video on Facebook, the director was asked about Adam Warlock and Darkhawk. Recently, Marvel Legends released new Guardians of the Galaxy toys among with non-cinematic pieces like Adam Warlock and Darkhawk. So, fans speculated that, perhaps, the toys signal to the arrival of the two characters in the MCU.
However, that will not happen. “I think it was not very well thought out because I’m getting questions about,” he stated as quoted by ComicBook. “Is Darkhawk in the movie because of the Marvel Legends figure? Is Adam Warlock in the movie because of the Marvel Legends figures?'”
He pointed out that the toys from the movie explicitly says Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 on the packaging. “So that should tell you what’s from the movie and what’s not,” he stated.
