Bring out your appetites for destruction, because classic Guns N’ Roses might just be back. With a rekindling of friendship between band front-man and sole survivor Axl Rose, former guitarist Slash has got various sources all over the industry murmuring about a reunion tour with the beloved 80’s line-up. Read on to find out more.
Guns N’ Roses have a long and complicated history that may be summarized thusly: Axl Rose is a hard man to get along with. The man is personally responsible for having incited at least two riots, royally annoying bands like Metallica and Nirvana, and firing most of the great line-up that gave us “Appetite for Destruction” in 1987 and “Use Your Illusion” in 1991. More famously, he has also referred to genius guitarist Slash as a “clueless, loud mouthed, arrogant c*nt” in 2010.
So why do we expect them to be back? As fate would have it, Slash and Rose have resumed their friendship recently and Slash has gone as far as to say “Never say never” about a possible reunion recently on a Swedish television interview.
In a fortuitous turn of events, latest GNR guitarists DJ Ashba and Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal also quit the band simultaneously earlier this year.
Hopes were further raised by James Young on Triple M Radio (via Blabbermouth) who recently suggested that the headliners for next years Australian Soundwave festival are going to be “Steven Adler, Izzy Stradlin, Duff McKagan, Slash and Axl Rose, the reformation of the original 1987 ‘Appetite For Destruction’ GUNS N’ ROSES lineup.”
While a GNR reunion will be the the most fantastic thing to happen to the music industry in a while, we should not raise our hopes too high. Knowing Axl Rose, he is fully capable and extremely likely to say something terribly offensive to everybody involved, and then fire them.
