Casting couch, the dreaded casting couch, has been a consequence of being an attractive Hollywood starlet for some time. “You wanna part, lady howsa’ ’bout some horizontal polka or do the Detroit wanka; wank?” It sucks. And it even happened to Gwyneth Paltrow.
In an interview with Elle, Paltrow, who won an Oscar for her role in Shakespeare in Love, reveled that older actresses in H-town aren’t given solid roles. A view long held by that old lady Demi ‘Look at me, I still have a rockin’ body’ Moore.
“There’s a lot that’s okay, but there’s little that’s really good, especially for someone my age,” says Paltrow. “Sometimes you find out that something you really liked is going to someone 10 years younger. I find it heartening that Meryl Streep and Sandra Bullock have been able to find and create amazing projects.”
Paltrow, who hates America (it’s true) and luuuuvs Spanish food, also said that she was propositioned by a cad:
“When I was just starting out, someone suggested that we finish a meeting in the bedroom’,” Paltrow said. “I left. I was pretty shocked. I could see how someone who didn’t know better might worry, ‘My career will be ruined if I don’t give this guy a blowjob’.”
Fast forward a decade and we see the rise of Megan Fox. Think about THAT for a moment. <wink>
Paltrow’s upcoming country flick Country Strong (sigh), is due out on Dec. 22.
