According to The Hollywood Reporter (THR), director Dustin Lance Black has chosen Hailee Steinfeld (“True Grit”) as the lead star in the upcoming movie, “The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight.” The film is based on Jennifer E. Smith's popular young adult (YA) novel of the same name. Read on to learn more about this movie scoop.
The teen romance saga revolves around the 24-hour tale of Haldey. She is now flying to London to attend her father's wedding despite her refusal. Her journey became a way to meet and fall in love with a British boy named Oliver at New York City’s JFK airport.
Screenwriter Dustin Lance Black won an Oscar in 2009 for “Milk" while 17-year-old Steinfeld was nominated for an Oscar in 2010 for “True Grit.” She will next star in Kyle Newman’s coming-of-age action comedy “Barely Lethal” in early 2015. Steinfeld recently wrapped production on “Pitch Perfect 2.”
Bruna Papandrea, Caroline Kaplan and Steve Hutensky are producing the flick. Steinfeld’s other credits also include “Ender’s Game,” and “The Homesman.” She is represented by ICM Partners, Coast To Coast Talent Group and Hirsch Wallerstein Hayum. The Exchange will sell international rights to Statistical Probability at AFM in Santa Monica and will be promoted at AFM in November.
