Confirmation about the rumored “Half-Life 3” seemed to be hinted through a “Mad Max” Easter Egg. Or is it just a joke? Read on for more details.
An Imgur user ‘Swagmastavondagmasta’ uploaded some images that seemed to hint that Valve might release “Half-Life 3” after all.
The first image, “The Glasses of a Freeman,” showed an unidentified decaying corpse who was wearing a pair of round glasses and was believed to be Gordon Freeman. His right arm was cut from his body perhaps due to a strong enemy that defeated him.
The second image, “The Holy Arms of a Freeman,” revealed the corpse’s right arm. It showed that the dead person holding a crowbar, similar to Freeman’s arsenal.
The third image, “The mark of the unknowable,” showed a number “3,” which fueled speculations that it was undeniably a reference to “Half-Life 3.”
While others believed that “Mad Max” confirmed the death of “Half-Life 3,” meaning, it won’t happen at all, or that the Easter Egg was just fooling around, VG247 thought it showed the futuristic timeline of “Mad Max.” In other words, the images seemed to suggest that in “Mad Max,” “Half-Life 3” was a thing in the past or part of their history.
Furthermore, the “Mad Max” Easter Egg named the region, where the corpse was found, as something that is a holy site or a tomb. And tombs are places that point to a historical fact.
Additionally, eagle eyed fans believed that the corpse was not Freeman because he does not wear round glasses. But considering the “Mad Max” timeline to be futuristic, could it be that the image was showing the dead body of an old Gordon Freeman since an aged person usually wears round glasses?
If such is the case then, does this hint that “Half-Life 3” is on the way? Is Valve developing the sequel after all?
Well, fingers crossed. But since Valve has not said anything and is yet to issue an official statement, the sequel is still uncertain. Therefore, readers are reminded to take this with a grain of salt.
