The paparazzi have become such a big part of Hollywood culture that they tend to overstep their boundaries. No wonder, some stars have lost their cool, and we are sometimes treated to a celebrities vs paparazzi smackdown through the years.
Adding to the list was Halle Berry’s husband Olivier Martinez, who allegedly used an empty car seat to shove an airport employee to the ground. According to TMZ, the couple was arriving at the Tom Bradley International Terminal at Sunday afternoon when they had been swarmed by paparazzi.
Now, travelling with kids can be extremely stressful — no wonder Martinez snapped! It was, however, unclear if the airport employee was just standing too close to the actor or if he too was trying to get a photo. He was immediately taken to the hospital due to alleged abdominal pain. He also filed a battery report against Martinez.
As recounted by NY Daily News, this was not the first time that Martinez had lost his temper over the paparazzi’s intrusion. In 2013, Martinez tried to kick a paparazzi gang but was quickly restrained by his wife.
The “Catwoman” star had always been vocal about her disdain towards the paps. She has also lent her support towards the Anti-Paparazzi law that prevents paparazzi from using drones to take photographs of celebrities.
“We aren’t just whiny celebrities. We’re moms who are just trying to protect our children. What this bill would do is give us our rights back so that we can protect our children,” she told in testimony before the Assembly Judiciary Committee in 2013.
