Hallmark Sets ‘The Good Witch’ Premiere for February 28, 2015
Catherine Bell, an actress known for her roles of Marine Lt. Col. Sarah MacKenzie on the television show JAG and Denise Sherwood on the Lifetime series Army Wives, speaks at the second annual National Capital Region Joint Services motorcycle safety event at the Pentagon.

Hallmark Channel has announced the premiere date of its latest light drama series “The Good Witch.” The show will have a two-hour premiere, done simultaneously worldwide on Hallmark on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015, at 8:00 p.m. Read on for more about this update.

The lighthearted and inspiring series, which features Catherine Bell (“Army Wives”) in the lead role as the mysterious but beloved and kindhearted Cassie Nightingale, is a spin-off of the “The Good Witch” TV movies that have been aired on the Hallmark Channel in the past years. Bell is joined by young actress Bailee Madison (“Trophy Wife”), who plays her daughter Grace. Grace possesses the same charm and powers as her mother.

In the series, the mother-daughter pair will soon meet their new next-door neighbors, a father-son team composed of Sam, played by James Denton (“Desperate Housewives”), who is a doctor and a divorcee, and his teenage son Nick, played by Rhys Matthew Bond (“The Unauthorized Story of Saved by the Bell”). Being new in the neighborhood and a single parent at that, Sam shakes up the dynamics of the community, but he and his son are instantly and magically charmed by the mother and daughter pair who lives next door. Sam thinks there’s a deeper mystery to what makes Cassie and Grace so interesting.

The Hallmark original series is a feel-good and positive show that is expected to inspire its viewers, just like its previous inceptions. Fans of “The Good Witch” franchise, however, note that Chris Potter (“Heartland”), who plays Cassie’s husband Jake in the made-for-television films, seems to be conspicuously left out of the casting.

Recently the three lead stars — Bell, Denton and Madison — were in attendance at the Television Critics Association Press Tour in Pasedena to talk about their upcoming show, but nothing has been reported about the major changes that make the TV movies different from the series. You can check out photos from this event as posted on Just Jared.

Catch the debut of “The Good Witch” series this coming Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015. The premiere will run for two hours on Hallmark Channel.
