In Episode 5 “Infiltrator” of “Halt and Catch Fire” Season 2, the characters feel stuck in their current circumstances – they are suspended in midair, waiting for the “drop” that brings together the past and the future. Read on for more details.

We finally know what Gordon’s illness is – it’s chronic toxic encephalopathy. It is a result of being exposed to toxins that are now taking over his brain. So, that explains his behavior. However, Gordon doesn’t tell Donna because he doesn’t know what to do yet. The fact that his illness doesn’t have a cure leaves him in such a vulnerable state that makes it harder to talk about it. Aside from that, his wife is busy with her own company. Little did he know that Donna is hiding something from him as well.

Yes, Donna hasn’t told anyone that she’s pregnant. She doesn’t know what to at this moment. Instead of telling her husband who also desperately seeks her comfort, she got busy with work making safe spaces for online strangers online so they could find each other.

As for Joe, Cameron found out that Joe is responsible for the network Mutiny is operating on and she hates it. She doesn’t want to accept help from Joe. And at the same time, having him brings back so many painful memories especially the fact that he betrayed her. It haunts her so bad that it almost breaks the relationship she has with Tom. Sara, on the other hand, met Cameron and learned about Joe’s secret business and she feels less enamored with him now.

The episode ended with Joe all alone once again and Gordon finally giving in and calling his brother to see him.
