AMC has launched their new Sunday night drama “Halt and Catch Fire” on June 1, 2014. So, how did the pilot episode titled “I/O” go? Read on for MNG’s “Halt and Catch Fire” Season 1 Episode 1 “I/O” recap.

“Halt and Catch Fire” Season 1 Episode 1 “I/O” Recap:

“I/O,” the pilot episode of “Halt and Catch Fire,” kicked off with the show’s main man, Joe MacMillan (Lee Pace), an ex-IBM hotshot who ran over an armadillo in his sports car with a smirk on his face. Slick and confident, just the way someone should act if he wants to make a huge impression especially in the computer business. He didn’t disappoint when he wooed Cameron Howe (Mackenzie Davis), a talented young programmer, to join his team and his plans to rule over the computer biz.

Joe’s mission in this episode is to deceive everyone at Cardiff Electronics, particularly the Senior VP of Sales, Bosworth, to hire him. He was also pursuing Gordon Clark (Scoot McNairy), an engineer, to help him reverse an IBM PC. In fact, he wanted to deceive the whole company to pretend to IBM and the federals that they have been trying to develop their own PC all along instead of admitting that McMillan is guilty and was sued by Big Blue.

With Joe’s slick and confident attitude, he got his way. Gordon spent all his time in this episode with Donna (Kerry Bishé) who is protesting his involvement. But in the end, she came around and it looks like she might just be a player herself. The ending of “Halt and Catch Fire” Season 1 Episode 1 “I/O” was solid when we get shots of the three heroes, Joe, Cameron and Gordon all peeking through an office window at IBM and they are all ready to make things happen for themselves.
