Previously on “Hannibal” (“Su-zakana” Season 2 Episode 8), a woman’s body was found inside a horse. This episode was gross . . . extremely gross. Consider yourselves, readers, warned. A veterinarian was examining a horse’s dead body in a stable. On the other hand, the owner thought that the horse died because it was heartbroken upon delivering a stillborn foal. The vet further probed whether the horse was carrying twins. So the vet cut the stitches and check the horse’s internals. Voila! A dead woman was wide-eyed staring at him.
As the Behavioral Analysis Unit investigated the victim’s body, they think that the woman was strangled before being turned into a filling in the horse’s body. Moreover, the team suddenly heard a beat from the woman’s body. Creepy, right? It was impossible because, obviously, she was dead. It turned out that the “beat” came from the bird stuffed in her chest!
Jack (Laurence Fishburne) and Will (Hugh Dancy) went to the stable for further probing. Will had his theory that the killer and the one who stuffed the woman in the horse’s body was not one and the same person. Will thought that maybe the one who put her inside the animal’s body was giving her a chance of rebirth. Furthermore, they visited the former employee of the stable, Peter. Peter had a traumatic experience with a horse as he was kicked in the head.
The FBI somehow managed to put the pieces together as they have found a field with 16 graves. Fifteen of which were filled with women’s bodies. The 16th was empty, and someone has dug the corpse and put it inside the horse. Will suspected that Peter did it, so he visited the weird man again, bringing the bird found in the woman’s chest with him this time. Peter pointed him to Clark Ingram. The FBI brought Clark for questioning but released him immediately after for they did not have anything to keep him.
When Peter went home, he found all the open with the animals all gone. He returned to the stable where he once worked and found Clark covered in blood, standing near the horse that kicked him.
Surprisingly, they may seem like a tandem now but not really, Will and Hannibal (Mads Mikkelsen) arrived at the stable and found Peter sewing the abdomen of the horse with Clark inside it. However, Peter justified that he did not kill Clark, which meant that he was still alive while stuffed inside the horse!
When Clark got outside, Will held him at gunpoint. Hannibal tried to talk him out of shooting Clark. Will fired just as when Hannibal dropped his thumb between the hammer and the firing pin. Only in the movies, right? Oh well, until their next therapeutic session.
