Previously on “Hannibal” Season 2 Episode 4 “Takiawase,” which aired on March 21, 2014, another body was found. It was not just the typical murdered body found somewhere else. What made it more special was the fact that the victim’s cranial cavity was turned into a beehive. The BAU stepped in to investigate the crime scene. Read on for the rest of the “Hannibal” Season 2 Episode 4 “Takiawase” recap.
Beverly (Hettiene Park) was secretly consulting Will (Hugh Dancy) about the mural killer. However, when Will revealed to Beverly about his theory, Beverly refused to believe him that Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen) is the killer. She agreed to consider the mural killer’s partner, but she would not focus on Hannibal alone.
Will has not given up on poking Hannibal yet. His plan included Dr. Chilton (Raul Esparza) having full access into his mind, revealing everything. Dr. Chilton would have the chance to enter the mind of the infamous psychopath. All these in one condition that Will made perfectly clear, Dr. Chilton would be his sole doctor, cutting Hannibal off the picture.
Meanwhile, Hannibal was busy treating Bella Crawford (Gina Torres), Jack Crawford’s (Laurence Fishburne) wife. She was suffering from lung cancer and was being treated for psychological pain. Moreover, Beverly asked him to take another look at the mural killer’s, James Gray, body. Hannibal was stunned to find out that Beverly was consulting Will.
Will’s test with Dr. Chilton soon followed. His first test involved the use of sodium amytal or commonly known as truth serum. When the serum has taken its toll on Will, Will confessed about Hannibal stimulating his seizures and blackouts. He took advantage of Will’s encephalitis to mess with his brain. Dr. Chilton agreed with Will that it was an unorthodox kind of therapy and cut Hannibal off from Will.
The Behavioral Sciences Unit (BSU) tried to solve the case of the beehive victim. The team examined the victim’s body and found out that the bee stings on its arms and face covered needle marks from acupuncture. Beverly considered the idea that the mural killer’s stitches that bound him to the mural were actually a front to a surgical scar. The mural killer has been operated before he was sewed into the mural. Wanting to find out more, Beverly searched the victim’s body and found out that his kidneys were missing.
Moreover, Jack and the BSU team located the beehive victim’s acupuncturist, and she confessed her crime.
Another nerve-racking scene in this episode was the part where Beverly went to Hannibal’s house to satisfy her curiosity. She then went down to his basement and saw chains, sharp objects—more like a slaughterhouse. Beverly opened the lights to have a good view of the basement, and Hannibal was behind her! When she turned, she aimed her gun at him. However, Hannibal was quick enough to turn off the lights and gunshots were heard.
