The “Glee” actor who is known for his pop-n-lock moves, Harry Shum Jr., will now be showcasing the way of the martial arts as he has recently been cast as one of the leads in “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” sequel. Read further to learn more about this news story.
Harry Shum Jr. has been known for the swift moves he make when he’s dancing in the hit TV show “Glee” and the popular dance movie “Step Up.” But it looks like he will be taking up new lessons as he assumes the role of a martial artist in the sequel for the popular creation of Ang Lee, “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon II: The Green Destiny.”
From the details of The Hollywood Reporter, Shum will be playing Tie Fang, one of the four highly acclaimed warriors of the martial arts world. These four warriors — the Silent Wolf, Yu Shu-lien, Tie-Fang and Snow Vase — are tasked to utilize their expertise and their bravery to protect the legendary sword, the Green Destiny, against the vile intent of the villainous Hades Dai. The story is basically set 20 years later, subsequent to the original film that was headed by Chow Yun-Fat.
Alongside the “Glee” actor, Donnie Yen will be playing the Silent Wolf, while Michelle Yeoh will be giving life to the character of Yu Shu-Lien. As of late, there are still no updates or revelations as to who will be playing the last of the four warriors, Snow Vase and also the villainous stead of Hades Dai. For sure though, the second installment of the film franchise is being directed by the Chinese visionary who is known for his combat coordination in “Kill Bill: Vol 2.”
On the information posted by The Star, The Weistein Company is backing the franchise of the action film and is set to start productions in the early weeks of August. Their shoots will be taking place in the countries of New Zealand and China.
Harry Shum Jr., who is backed by acting firms Innovative Artists and Triniti Management, is known for his comical and active role as Mike Chang in the hit Fox TV show, “Glee.” He has also finished filming for another drama entitled “Revenge of the Green Dragons,” where he worked with Ray Liotta.
