Hasbro appoints Josh Feldman as head of development of the company’s film and TV division, Hasbro Studios. Read on for further details.
According to Variety, Josh Feldman is officially head of development of Hasbro Studios. Feldman was recently director of development for Simon Kinberg’s Genre Films banner, where he contributed for the films, “X-Men” and “Fantastic Four.” He laso made a contribution in the big screen adaptation for Fox’s “Magic: The Gathering.”
As head of development, Feldman will be responsible on handling the adaptations of Hasbro’s toylines into live action and animated films. He will be closely working with the studio’s TV development, brand, design, digital and licensing teams.
“With his tremendous experience in brand-focused film storytelling, Josh is ideally suited for this role as we look to expand our feature business. His focus will be on both our franchise and new brands in live-action and animation,” said president of Hasbro Studios and global entertainment and licensing, Stephen Davis, of whom Feldman will report to.
Hasbro is one of the leading toy and board game company and is one of the largest toy makers in the world. Hasbro has several brands of toys and games aimed at different demographics, such as G.I. Joe, Sesame Street, Furby, Beyblade, B-Daman, Easy-Bake Oven, Sesame Street, Pokémon, Mr. Potato Head, My Little Pony, Nerf, Play-Doh, Star Wars, Zoids and Transformers. Its board games include Dungeons & Dragons, their best-selling brand, Magic: The Gathering, Duel Masters Trading Card Game; best-selling board games Monopoly, Ouija, Pictionary, Risk and Scrabble. It also developed the games such as Bop It and Jenga.
Moreover, its film production subsidiary, Hasbro Studios, originally a TV production division, was responsible for creating many TV shows, both animated and live action, based on Hasbro properties such as “G.I. Joe” and “The Transformers” series. Hasbro Films, or Hasbro Film Group, is a film development unit within Hasbro Studios, a division of Hasbro tasked with developing movies for Hasbro properties which licensed the hit films Transformers, whose franchise continued with Paramount Pictures with the addition of the G.I. Joe property.
