“Hawaii Five-0” Season 6 Episode 1 “Mai Ho`oni i Ka Wai Lana Mâlie (Do Not Disturb the Water that is Tranquil)” aired last Friday, Sept. 25, 2015 at 9:00 p.m. on CBS. In the first episode of the season, the Five-0 Task Force found themselves in a race against time as they raced against two murderous modern day pirates. Meanwhile, Officer Kono Kalakaua’s (Grace Park) honeymoon with Adam Noshimuri (Ian Anthony Dale) was cut short after Gabriel Waincroft (Christopher Sean) showed up on their doorstep, forcing Adam to make a drastic decision that would put the newlyweds in a very dangerous place. Also, Lieutenant Commander Steve McGarrett (Alex O’Loughlin) made an important decision with regards to his own personal life. Read on to learn more about this episode.
The episode began with a flashback to 1884, in Honolulu, in which a pirate crew pillaged and plundered the king of Oahu’s palace.
The scene then shifted to a living room where man lay dead on the sofa. His killer watched and later pulled out a Betamax tape of an old pirate relating his tale of pirates, plunder, and treasure.
The scene then shifted to where season five left off, with Officer Kono Kalakaua (Grace Park) and Adam Noshimuri (Ian Anthony Dale) being presented to the public for the first time as newlyweds.
Afterwards, Detective Lieutenant Chin Ho Kelly (Daniel Dae Kim) told the team about Gabriel Waincroft (Christopher Sean) threatening him at the parking lot earlier, which they realized was a message to them that he wasn’t afraid of them.
The next morning, Catherine Rollins (Michelle Borth) promised Lieutenant Commander Steve McGarrett (Alex O’Loughlin) that they would talk like he wanted when he came from work.
He then headed to a crime scene, where a man named Keanu Carson (Eric Mead) had been killed. A Betamax tape of an interview with a certain Byron Washburn (Michael De Ycaza) on it had gone missing.
At the Five-0 Task Force, with Jerry Ortega (Jorge Garcia) in tow, they discovered that Keanu had bought the storage unit of a local historian, Dr. Nathan Exley (Mark Norfleet). He had disappeared after interviewing a real life pirate named Byron Washburn, who had hinted at pirate treasure in the interview. He had bought Exley’s unit as he was writing a book about him.
Later, in the car, Steve told Detective Sergeant Daniel “Danny” Williams (Scott Caan) that he was planning on proposing to Catherine, something that Danny later announced to the rest of the team.
Meanwhile, Kono and Adam, during their honeymoon, were tied up and tortured by Gabriel Waincroft (Christopher Sean). He wanted Adam to wire the money that he was going to use to buy his freedom from the Yakuza to him. Adam then later gave in after Gabriel had an associate pull Kono’s teeth out.
While Adam and Gabriel went to the bank, Kono managed to escape and overpowered her captor.
However, she got to the bank too late, and upon seeing her, Gabriel shot Adam in the stomach.
Meanwhile, a painting of a valley that figured in the old pirate legend was stolen by modern day pirates named Simon Moore (Jay Hector) and Cindy Patterson (Samantha Lockwood), who turned out to be the great-granddaughter of Byron Washburne, who later on worked at the palace and got fired from it years later.
After comparing the picture painting that had just been stolen with the original, Jerry told them to go to the location indicated in a nick in the canvas. However, they only found the skeleton of Exley, who had died due to an accident, and his journal.
After tracking down the credit card of Moore to a sailboat purchase, they discovered the painting. It had been ripped out of its wooden frame, which Jerry discovered, led to the location of the buried treasure, which was now under a local residence.
The team then rescued the family that was being held hostage there and overpowered Cindy and Moore. However, upon opening the chest that Cindy had been digging up, they discovered some silverware and candlesticks, which was what Washburn had stolen from the palace years ago.
It turned out that the entire story Washburn had told had been a hoax.
Afterward, the team rushed to the ICU at King’s Medical Center after Chin Ho received a phone call from Kono.
There, they learned that Adam was still in surgery and that she and Adam were in danger from the Yakuza as all of Adam’s money for the yakuza had gone to Gabriel.
