“Game of Thrones” fans, here are some bits and pieces about the Season 5 of your most anticipated television series. HBO announced the lineup of new characters for the upcoming season of “Game of Thrones” on Friday, July 25, 2014. However, learning about the newcomers will also spoil the season ender of the series, so if you haven’t watched the Season 4 finale, better not read any further.
According to Forbes, most of the new additions are notably key members from House Martell of Dorne, well, relatives of the departed — yes, departed — Oberyn Martell. While Doran Martell’s son, Trystane Martell, will be portrayed by Toby Sebastian, actor DeObia Oparei will join as the loyal leader of the palace guard of Doran Martell.
“Pirates of the Carribean” actor Jonathan Pryce will show up as The High Sparrow who has been in the service of the poor, the infirm and the downtrodden in King’s Landing and will add a compassionate atmosphere to the life of Westeros. Here are the new additions to the cast and their respective roles: Jessicca Henwick as Nymeria Sand, Keisha Castle-Hughes as Obara Sand and Rosabell Laurenti Sellers as Tyene Sand — the three bastard daughters of Oberyn also known as the three Sand Snakes. Nym, short for Nymeria, is the second eldest of the daughters of the late Prince Oberyn. Her mother, an Eastern noblewoman, brought her up to be a gracefully cultured lady and notably deadly with a whip. Tyene, whose mother was Oberyn’s last paramour, Ellaria Sand, is far fiercer than how she looks with her distinct twin daggers. Fearsome warrior, Obara, whose mother was a Dornish peasant girl, is the eldest of the three bastard daughters.
Aimee Richardson will be replaced by Nell Tiger Free as Myrcella Baratheon, Cersei and King Robert Baratheon’s daughter. But of course, as a big fan, you know that her father is Jaime Lannister, Cersei’s own brother.
IGN reported that the announcement was made at San Diego Comic-Con during a special casting video shown to fans who were attending the big Q&A panel that featured Maisie Williams, Natalie Dormer, Kit Harington, John Bradley, Rose Leslie, Pedro Pascal, Gwendoline Christie, Rory McCann, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Sophie Turner together with author George R.R. Martin, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss.
If “Game of Thrones” will observe consistent schedule, Season 5 will have a spring premiere.
