After lengthy negotiations and rumors flying around, “New World” has been given an official pilot order from HBO.
Months have passed with talks of getting “New World” to the network yet no one has confirmed this until now. the show if from Jenji Kohan, the creator of “Orange Is the New Black” and it will be directed by Gus Van Sant.
A lot of people are curious to know what “New World” is all about. According to Variety, the show may just shed light into one of the “most compelling phase in American History”, which specifically points out to the time during the infamous Salem Witch Trial in 17th century in New England.
Lionsgate TV will collaborate with HBO and production will start this spring in Massachusetts. The pilot was written by Kohan with Brice Miller and Tracy Miller. Executive producers are Kohan, Van Sant, Bruce Miller and Tara Herrmann while Tracy Miller will supervise production and Mark Burley also signed up as co-executive producer.
As of now, casting is underway yet no details have been released yet. It’s going to be any moment now, though. “New World” is a different kind of show that will take its viewers to a different part of history that hasn’t been that exposed to the public eye – only those with the interest in this particular time of American History will seem interested in it but with the news that HBO is producing something like this has surely perked up more interests and has built anticipation over the months.
