The “Hemlock Grove” returns to bring nightmares again on Friday, July 11, 2014 at 12:01 a.m. on Netflix. Read on the find more about the return of “Hemlock Grove” on its Season 2 offering.
“Hemlock Grove” is based on the novel of the same name written by Brian McGreevy. He is joined by “Hostel” director Eli Roth and co-writer Lee Shipman on developing the concept into a series on the streaming service, Netflix. The series first premiered on April 19, 2013.
The horror-thriller drama series, one of Netflix’s Originals, centers on mysterious happenings in the small town of Hemlock Grove in Pennsylvania. It follows the journey of Olivia (Famke Janssen) and Roman (Bill Skarsgård) of elite Godfrey family as they try to help a 17-year old Gyspy named Peter (Landon Liboiron) in clearing his name despite being a supernatural being himself.
According to Zap2it, the series was green lighted for a shorter season order with only ten episodes, unlike Season 1’s thirteen episodes. It was also said that “The Walking Dead” and “Dexter” writer/producer Charles H. McGee will join on board alongside Roth, McGreevy, Lee Shipman, Eric Newman and Michael Connolly.
Executive producer Eli Roth expressed his gratitude on the overwhelming response of the audience. He pointed out that He also asked the audience to get ready for surprises on the upcoming Season 2.
“Netflix members loved the potent combination of sexy monsters, mystery, and the dark family soap opera that ended with a huge twist, leaving audiences worldwide totally shocked,” Roth shared in a statement posted in Zap2it.
Deadline also reported on the new faces that will join the Season 2 of “Hemlock Grove.” Madeleine Martin will replace Nicole Boivin to portray the role of Shelly Godfrey, a reanimated child of the Godfreys.
On the other hand, there would be a possible Netflix crossover as Madeline Brewer will have a guest starring role as a graphic novelist who will arrive at “Hemlock Grove.” She previously took the role of the lesbian named Tricia Miller, who is one of the youngest inmates at the Litchfield Penitentiary in “Orange in the New Black.”
