Wonder Woman has established itself as DCEU’s first successful project. The critics love the movie and it is doing well at the box office. Following its success, many stars have come forward to congratulate the team behind the movie.  However, it is one DC star’s remark that stands out from others.

Henry Cavill’s Instagram post

Comicbook.com reported that Justice League star Henry Cavill took to Instagram to congratulate his co-star and Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot along with the team behind the movie.

He shared a picture with Gadot that was taken at Comic Con, a year before the release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The two shared few scenes in the movie and will now be seen together in Justice League this year.

He mentioned Gadot, director Patty Jenkins and Chris Pine’s name along with the team of Wonder Woman in the caption. He called them his DC family members and wrote about the movie’s incredibly successful weekend.

Cavill has been quite active on Instagram. Ever since his inclusion in the DCEU, he has been actively trolling, promoting DC-related material and mentioning other DCEU stars.

Appreciation from other stars

Cavill is not the only one who congratulated the team of Wonder Woman. Stars from DC’s rival studio Marvel took to social media and praised the movie.

Comicbookmovie.com reported that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 director James Gunn, Thor: Ragnarok star Mark Ruffalo and Captain America: Civil War star Chris Evans are just some of the ones who congratulated the movie.

On the other hand, People reported that celebrities like Jessica Chastain, Dwayne Johnson, Josh Gad and many others showered appreciation for the movie as well.

Wonder Woman’s success

Wonder Woman is the first DC movie that has had an overall wonderful performance. Early movies like Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad were panned by critics everywhere.

Variety reported that Wonder Woman hit a worldwide opening of $223 million. In addition to this, it sits with a rating of 93% on Rotten Tomatoes, which is way better than the two movies.  It has soared ahead than other superhero movies as well.

Sequel

Following the success of Wonder Woman, a sequel is being planned. It was only a matter of time before the studio was to green light a sequel. Producer Charles Roven mentioned that there is no script but they are looking at stories that they can adapt for the sequel.

Both Gadot and Jenkins are confirmed to return for the sequel. However, Pine’s return amongst others remains doubtful. After having defeated Ares in the first one, it remains to be seen which supervillain will Diana go up against.

Given her history, there are some good villains who she can fight in the sequel. It was also confirmed that Wonder Woman 2 will be set in the US.

Plot

The movie tells the origin of Diana, Princess of Themyscira, a 5000-year-old immortal warrior who was brought to life by Zeus. Destined to be Zeus’s weapon, she is the key to protecting this world from all kinds of danger.

When a US spy named Steve Trevor crashes near Themyscira, she rescues him and accompanies him to fight in World War I. It is during the war she realizes who she really is and how she must dedicate her life to protecting humanity.

She has already proven how powerful she is when she engaged in a combat with Doomsday and killed Ares in her solo movie. She will be now be seen in Justice League in which she along with other heroes will go up against Steppenwolf.

Release date

Wonder Woman is running in theaters and no release date has been set for the sequel.
