Besides the Australian-based worship band, Casting Crowns and MercyMe were also nominated for the same category.

The 43rd AMA will be held at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles, California on November 22 and will be hosted by Jennifer Lopez.

Hillsong youth pastors Phil and Lucinda Dooley led the youth ministry for many years. Out of this small group, it grew into what is now called as Hillsong UNITED.

The group released their latest album, “Empires,” on May 22 and it reached at No. 5 on Billboard’s 200 chart. It peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Christian albums and No. 2 on the Digital Albums charts, BREATHEcast reported.

The band’s album also maintained its place within the Top 5, highest at No. 2, on the iTunes overall albums and was reportedly awarded as Album of the Week by USA Today.

Recently, the Christian bagged the award for Top Christian Artist at the Billboard Music Awards. Their hit single “Oceans (Where Feet May Fail)” was also nominated in the “Top Christian Song” category.

Currently, the song is still at No. 1 in Billboard’s Hot Christian Songs for the week of November 7, 2015 while their newest single “Touch The Sky” is at No. 7.

In an interview with Christian Post, the band’s Hillsong Church pastor, Joel Houston, was thankful for the accomplishments they have received.

“If anything these songs and whatever they achieve are the overflow of that spirit to simply serve God and serve others,” Joel Houston said.

The votation for the “Favorite Artist – Contemporary Inspirational” category in the 2015 American Music Awards is now open and fans could cast their vote for Hillsong UNITED, Casting Crowns, or MercyMe through Twitter or at the AMA site.
