Holly Holm And Ronda Rousey Second (And Probably Last?) Match Has A Target Date

The biggest and most talked about UFC event this year occurred last November when an unexpected upset came through a technical knockout. News spread like wildfire which immediately shifts the attention of the public to the new champion. It also opened the discussion and clamor for a rematch. And now, there is a chosen date for their second fight.

USA Today Sports gathered the information that the UFC organization has already chosen a particular location and date for the anticipated Holly Holm and Ronda Rousey rematch.

It will happen in Las Vegas on July 9, but this is still a tentative date. This isn’t yet the final details of their rematch since the managements of the two fighters should agree on the suggested date, but none hasn’t yet confirmed.

New York Daily News reported that when White was asked by the Los Angeles Times who will be the first challenger of Holm in her title defense, he said it will be Rousey. With the tentative date and this confirmation, it means she needs to wait for almost eight months before returning to the octagon for an official match.

Lenny Fresquez, the manager of the new champion, wanted to set a match between her and Miesha Tate but also acknowledges the authority of the UFC organization.

Fresquez said, “Holly’s used to staying active. We’re from the old school and we believe the No. 1 contender is there for a reason. … (Tate) deserves a shot, but it’s not for me to decide.”

The manager likewise expressed her worry if Rousey is in top shape, Fresquez said, “I’m not sure Ronda will be ready for a July fight. She took a severe beating and I don’t think it’s in her best interest to take the next fight so fast. They told me she’s been ready and cleared, but…”

In Rousey’s interview with ESPN, she admitted that if she lost again, then she is already finished with everything, hence her next game is crucial in her career as it may open more opportunities for her or she will totally quit her career.
