Netflix’s critically acclaimed and awards-nominated political drama series “ House of Cards” has a return date. The show’s complete third season will be released on the streaming site on Friday, Feb. 27, 2015, at 12:01 a.m. Find out more in the news story below.
The announcement of the third season release of “House of Cards” was made on its official Twitter account, which featured a dramatic ten second teaser showing a “White House special announcement” from the newly installed US president, Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey) with the First Lady Claire Underwood (Robin Wright). The power couple is seen getting aboard Air Force One and the date “02 27 15” is scrolled on the brief clip, indicating the show’s return date.
As in the past seasons, Netflix releases the full episodes for this show every February. According to Huffington Post, filming for Season 3 began in March 2014 in Maryland.
The details of this season have been kept hush-hush, but many of the show’s followers are anticipating another wild season of scheming orchestrated by the show’s anti-hero. In the past, Frank manipulated his way into the top seats, first ascending from congressman to vice president in the first season, to finally gaining the top post as the president by the end of season two.
Now that he has become the most powerful man in the world, what would Frank’s next aspiration be? Then again, being the president of America is not exactly a walk in the park.
According to Empire Online, the show has enlisted the help of Tony Gilroy as consultant for the latest season. He’s famous for his work on the "Bourne" series and “Michael Clayton,” both of which featured tense political settings.
Here’s the Twitter announcement to “House of Cards,” which had many of its fans thrilled for what’s to come next on the show.
