Great news for the fans of “How To Train Your Dragon” movie series. One of the most loved animated film will soon be available in the market in the graphic novel form by none other than the team that is bringing the graphical novel version of “Avatar.”
In an ongoing New York Comic Con, Dark Horse Comics and DreamWorks Animations announced the news that the two mammoths will team up for a new series of graphic novels based on the hit “How To Train Your Dragon” franchise. The first book in the series is titled, “How to Train Your Dragon: The Serpent’s Heir.”
The director and writer of “How to Train Your Dragon” movie, Dean DeBlois will collaborate with the team of Dark Horse to bring the new graphic novel. The writer of “Dragons: Race to the Edge,” will do Pierre-Olivier Vincent’s cover artwork.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the upcoming graphic novels will mark an exciting expansion in the world of Vikings. The first glimpse of the novel will be into Hiccup, Toothless and the conclusion of the second film.
“These stories open up for the riders to discover new lands, meet new heroes and villains, and encounter never-before-seen dragons on new adventures. Most excitingly, these novels are moving into a time we haven’t yet explored across any format,” Dean DeBlois added.
After the death of Viking’s leader, Hiccup will be appointed as the head of the Berk and at the same time, Toothless who has defeated the scariest dragon, will become the alpha in his own kin. Along the way, they both will meet new dragons and new enemies. The upcoming graphical novel will serve as the prequel to the feature “How To Train Your Dragon 3.”
The comic book series will explore the backstories of dragons and Vikings. The first graphic novel, “How to Train Your Dragon: The Serpent’s Heir” will be released in 2016 while “How To Train Your Dragon 3” will mark end to the movie franchise.
