Remember singing those catchy lines from the 90’s film “Ghostbusters” as a kid? It goes like this: “If there’s somethin’ strange in your neighborhood Who ya gonna call (ghostbusters) If it’s somethin’ weird an it won’t look good Who ya gonna call (ghostbusters).” Maybe, you’ll say yes or what’s that? Hey, no judgement here! Well, who would you call if there’s a zombie-vampire apocalypse instead of ghosts? I’ll give you two hints- “The Vampire Diaries” star Ian Somerhalder and “Walking Dead” star Norman Reedus! It’s a good thing Ian Somerhalder and Norman Reedus took over the Mardi Gras 2014 weekend in New Orleans, Louisiana (NOLA).
Just Jared reported that the residents of New Orleans had the chance to relive this TV fantasy during the weekend when both hunks/TV actors were tapped to lead The Krewe of Endymion parade as co-grand marshals in the annual celebration of Mardi Gras in New Orleans, Louisiana last March 1, 2014.
Daily Mail posted pictures of Ian Somerhalder and Norman Reedus as they took over the Mardi Gras 2014 weekend in New Orleans. The two sci-fi actors even dressed up for the festive occasion. “The Vampire Diaries” heartthrob Somerhalder donned a cool hat and tuxedo ensemble while the “Walking Dead”star Reedus wore strands of colourful beads with confidence while handing out necklaces from their respective TV show-themed floats.
The hunky pair expressed their giddiness by sharing photos and videos in their social media accounts such as Twitter and Instagram.
After wrapping up shooting, Ian (@iansomerhalder) tweeted a photo of himself wearing hot pink colored bead necklace with the TVD logo while he was on his way to the parade.
“I’m taking over @esquiremag and their Instagram account tomorrow for#MardiGras so be sure to follow along! It’s going to be crazy!! Parental discretion is ADVISED!!!!!” read Somerhalder’s photo caption on his official Twitter account.
Being a native of Louisiana, Somerhalder was later joined by his mother Edna and sister Robin in the middle of the parade. He also posted a lot of pictures while riding random types of vehicles such as a Louisiana Police car, a New Orleans Police motorcycle, and a Golf Cart while “patrolling” backstage at the Super Dome.
Ending his experience with a bang, he posted a photo of himself wearing noise-canceling headphones, which only meant that he left his lovely home in Louisiana in a helicopter to head for “The Vampire Diaries” taping the next day.
Norman Reedus or “Daryl Dixon” shared with his near 1-M Instagram followers a video of their entourage getting escorted on their way to the festive celebration. He also posted another video of the event’s after party.
Even if the Mardi Gras 2014 has already ended, Norman still tweeted a panoramic image of the parade with the caption:
“New Orleans I miss u already,” tweeted Reedus in his official Instagram account.
Meanwhile, Ian’s vampire alter-ego Damon looked in deep thought and in (fake blood!)
“Damon contemplating life after a lonnnnnnng weekend in New Orleans. I miss you #mardigras,” posted Somerhalder on his official Instagram account.
Both Ian and Norman portray iconic and unforgettable characters that got them the star status from the various popular TV shows in which they starred in.
Ian is best known for playing Boone Carlyle, a plane crash survivor in ABC’s Lost (2044-2010) and also the dashing vampire Damon Salvatore in the TV adaptation of the novel “The Vampire Diaries” (2009-present) while Norman’s Daryl Dixon character is known for fending off zombies with his trusty Horton Scout HD 125 crossbow in the television series “The Walking Dead” (2010-present).
Aside from Ian Somerhalder and Norman Reedus who took over the Mardi Gras 2014 weekend in New Orleans as co-grand marshals of The Krewe of Endymion parade, other stars including Quentin Tarantino also attended the festivities. Of course, Mardi Gras or “Fat Tuesday” in New Orleans, Louisiana will not be complete without famous musical acts gracing the event. This 2014, former “American Idol” winner and award-winning singer Carrie Underwood also joined the celebration.
